BLACKSMITH [BLAK-SMITH] N. 1. A METAL SMITH WHO CREATES OBJECTS FROM WROUGHT IRON OR STEEL BY FORGING THE METAL, USING TOOLS TO HAMMER, BEND, AND CUT.
I have been in the steel manufacturing industry for 13 years. I've learned many different metal working trades during that time. Most recently, I've mastered the art of the blacksmith. These trades have inspired me to work with artists and to start designing and developing my own functional artwork.
My passion is to re-purpose old and unusable materials into new, functional pieces. I love the long history of the materials and seeing them resurrected into a new, refurbished lives. This creates a unique identity for every work of art I produce and a story of how it came to be.
My goal is to bring people back to a time when tradesmen put their heart and soul into their work to show their craftsmanship. These days so many products are manufactured at such a fast rate that the quality and beauty of the product is lost. Too often the product is prematurely thrown away due to simple defects and replaced with a similar, cheap product.
With this work I am helping to bring back an appreciation for quality craftsmanship.
